Advocacy

At the Friends of Aine Center, we recognize the importance of advocating for the needs of grieving children and families.  We believe that grief is an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) that should be recognized.  Our goal is to raise awareness about grief, reduce the stigma around death, and provide education so that, as a community, we can help grieving children and families navigate their path to a hopeful future.

Advocacy: ad·vo·ca·cy

Any action that speaks in favor of, recommends, argues for a cause, supports or defends, or pleads on behalf of others.

In support of our goal, we:
  • Advocate to raise awareness of grief as a public and mental health issue.
  • Play a critical role in the recognition of child bereavement as an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE)
  • Create a relationship plan that builds champions among local, state and federal leaders
  • Identify and leverage public sector funding opportunities
  • Utilize the resources and deepen relationships with NACG (National Alliance for Children’s Grief) and Evermore (national bereavement policy platform)
